Livres Pensantes vai fazer uma pausa. Em jeito de despedida, apresenta uma  colectânea de temas musicais de John Barry que tão bem ilustrou muitas das telas de cinema que nos encantaram.

John Barry (1933 - 2011), natural da  cidade de York, norte da Inglaterra, foi um compositor e maestro britânico que compôs  bandas sonoras  para mais de 100 filmes e programas de televisão. Foi ele o autor da banda sonora de onze filme , com o icónico espião de Ian Fleming, James Bond: Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun, Moonraker, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, and The Living Daylights. 

Durante a sua  carreira de compositor,   conquistou cinco Oscars por Born Free ( melhor partitura e melhor música); The Lion in Winter, Out of Africa (1985) e Dances with Wolves (1990), além de indicações para Mary Queen of Scots (1971) e Chaplin (1992).As outras bandas  sonoras incluem Zulu (1964), The Ipcress File (1965), Midnight Cowboy (1969), Somewhere in Time (1980), Body Heat (1981), Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) e Enigma (2001). Também compôs para o teatro, incluindo os musicais de sucesso moderado Passion Flower Hotel (1965) e Billy (1974). Ganhou  quatro prémios Grammy, o de  melhor performance instrumental de jazz, big band, pela banda  sonora do filme The Cotton Club (1984). ). Em 1998, John Barry foi inscrito no Songwriters Hall of Fame; em 1999 , nomeado Oficial da Ordem do Império Britânico (OBE), no Palácio de Buckingham por serviços à música, e recebeu o Prémio de Bolsa da Academia Britânica de Cinema e Televisão (BAFTA), em 2005. Também em 2005, o American Film Institute classificou a pontuação de John Barry para Out of Africa com o  No.15 , na  lista das maiores pontuações de filmes.
